Vladas Naudžius

Date of birth: 1966 12 02

The work of Vladas Naudzius is closely related to the new wave in Lithuanian cinema. His first feature was THREE DAYS by Sarunas Bartas, which can be considered as the visual manifest of a new Lithuanian cinema. Since then Vladas Naudzius has worked with such Lithuanian directors as V. Navasaitis (AUTUMN SNOW, PERPETUUM MOBILE), A. Stonys (FLYING OVER BLUE FIELDS), K. Vildziunas (THE LEASE, BACK TO YOUR ARMS).

In parrallel to his work in Lithuania Naudzius has built a steady career in The Netherlands. The last ten years of Naudzius’ work in The Netherlands shows an even spread between features and documentaries. The latter of which have been widely aired on TV channels like VPRO and Doc 24. Vladas Naudzius has simultaneously been working in The Netherlands with directors as Jos de Putter, Nathalie Alonso Casale, Sander Blom, amongst others.

Film festivals in Cannes, Venice, Chicago, New York, Berlin, Borgholm, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, have all screened the movies he photographed numerous times. Vladas Naudzius holds the awards of the Best Director of photography of the CIS and the Baltic States film festival KINOSHOCK in Russia. He was invited to read a master class in the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). In 2009 he was awarded the SILVER CRANE, the Lithuanian TV and cinema award for the photography of the movies PERPETUUM MOBILE (directed by Valdas Navasaitis) and WOLF (directed by Julius Ziz).
