Vladas Naudžius

Date of birth: 1966 12 02

The works of Vladas Naudzius are closely intertwined with the new wave in Lithuanian cinema. His initial foray into feature film came with “THREE DAYS” by Sarunas Bartas, often regarded as a visual manifesto of the emerging Lithuanian cinema. Subsequently, Naudzius collaborated with esteemed Lithuanian directors such as V. Navasaitis (on “AUTUMN SNOW” and “PERPETUUM MOBILE”), A. Stonys (“FLYING OVER BLUE FIELDS”), and K. Vildziunas (“THE LEASE” and “BACK TO YOUR ARMS”).

Concurrently, Naudzius has cultivated a robust career in The Netherlands. Over the past decade, his work in The Netherlands has encompassed a balanced mix of features and documentaries. Notably, his documentaries have received widespread acclaim and have been broadcasted on prominent TV channels like VPRO and Doc 24. Additionally, Naudzius has collaborated with Dutch directors such as Jos de Putter, Nathalie Alonso Casale, Fiona Tan and Sander Blom

Naudzius’ cinematography has garnered recognition at prestigious film festivals worldwide, including Cannes, Venice, Chicago, New York, Berlin, Borgholm, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam, where his films have been showcased repeatedly. He has been honored with the Best Director of Photography award at the CIS and Baltic States film festival KINOSHOCK in Russia. Moreover, he was invited to conduct a master class at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). In 2009, he received the SILVER CRANE, the esteemed Lithuanian TV and cinema award, for his outstanding cinematography in the films “PERPETUUM MOBILE” (directed by Valdas Navasaitis) and “WOLF” (directed by Julius Ziz).
